The story starts from the campus of IIM A (One of the renowned management colleges in India) and has "Krish" as the central character in the book. The intial few chapters embark the reader on a journey of a shy love story where Krish falls in love with Ananya who is a batch-mate of his at IIM A. Things look pretty good and love starts blossoming between the two young people. But then there comes a catch. Krish comes from a typical Punjabi family from north India and a community where merry making and pompousness is the buzzword. On the other hand, Ananya comes from the southern part of the country where the morning of people starts from a filter coffee and The Hindu.
In short, the two people in love come from a completely different background and thus would not be accepted by the families on the either side. What does our hero do then? Our hero puts in every effort to woo his girl's parents when he takes a job posting in a city where his to be in-laws reside. He makes sure that he impresses Ananya's mother and praises her for her singing talent. What more? He gets up early in the morning, goes all the way to Ananya's place to teach her brother a few lessons to get into IIT-JEE. If that is not enough, Krish does all that he can to grab the attention of Ananya's father.
In this journey, Ananya also has her share of impressing her to be mother in-law where she leaves no stone unturned to acclimatize her to the Punjabi family. What troubles the couple is the broken marriage that Krish's parents have been a part of. The story is beautifully woven and transcends into the corporate life of the two central characters and takes you through the hardship that a couple has to face while dreaming of being together for their lifetime.
