The film was long in making. It started production in 1982 but there was a delay of 12 years before it could be completed. Release, however, was not until 1996. The film was not exactly a roaring success.
The story revolves around a woman whose life is filled with sadness and sorrow. Rekhawas still a force to reckon with at the time and this is one of the many films that showcases her acting excellence. True to the triple Aurat nomenclature of the title, she simply carries the film on her shoulder.
Brij (Sadashiv Amrapurkar) is such a heel that Sita has no other way than to kill him. This is revealed in a flashback even as Sita(Rekha) is on trial for the murder.
Sita is engaged to Vijay (Vinod Mehra) but Rakesh (Rakesh Roshan) falls for her and cannot stop even after learning of the engagement. Mention must be made of these young actors� elegant looks and effortless acting. Anyway, Rakesh hires Brij to murder Vijay which he accomplishes.
Sita is desolate but finally gets married to barrister Vajpai (Shreeram Lagoo) and gets the shock of her life when she learns that Rakesh is Vajpai�s son from a previous marriage.
Music by Laxmikanth Pyarelal has some good songs. Anuradha Paudwal�s rendition of Rota hai faryaad kartha hai established her name in the industry. This is a good buy for those who like emotional conflicts.
