Agni Siragugal, the Tamil translation of Wings of Fire, is the fascinating autobiography of A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, the former President of India. The book follows his journey from his childhood days till the time he became a scientist in the India Space Research Sector and eventually the President of India.
The book is divided chronologically into four sections. The first section is about the first 32 years of his life and titled Orientation. His childhood in Rameshwaram, his life in a Tamil Muslim family, his school days and his study years in Aerospace Engineering from the Madras Institute of Technology are covered in Orientation. The next 17 years- from 1963 to 1980 are recounted in the second section called Creation. Interesting incidents during his stay in the United States such as his evident pleasure at finding a painting of the battle of Tipu Sultan at the NASA facility are discussed in this section, giving the readers a very intimate look at his love for his motherland. This section also celebrates his success of the Satellite Launch Vehicle (SLV-3) and Thumba and his rise to international fame and acclaim owing to the same. Propitiation, the next section, is about the next ten years of his life between 1981 and 1991.
