Overview: Asterix and the Picts: Album 35

Asterix and the Picts is the 35th volume of the world famous Asterix and Obelix series. The present book revolves around the duo's discovery of a mysterious Pict whose name is MacAroon. Asterix and Obelix rescue him from grave dangers. If that's not all, they now have to travel all the way to Caledonia (present Scotland) to unite him with his lady love Camomilla. Alas! Only if things were that simple. Camomilla is the king's adopted daughter and is eyed by the chieftain, MacCabeus, a treacherous man hungry for the throne. If that's not all, MacCabeus is backed by the Romans in his evil mission. The French warriors try their hands at many things including tossing a caber. They make new friends and leave back a gleaming memory of their presence amongst the Picts. When they successfully defeat the evil, Asterix and Obelix are welcomed back home with the customary bouquet accompanied with greetings from friends and family. A comedy of all sorts, this series of Asterix and Obelix sees some quirky misdemeanors.

The Asterix comic books are loved by all, irrespective of age. This particular series is very important as this was illustrated and created by a new creative team. The original creator of the series, Rene Goscinny was an Argentinean writer living in Paris. He passed away in 1977. The co-creator Albert Uderzo belongs to France and his collaboration with Goscinny began in 1951. Together they created one of the most beloved comic panels of the 20th Century, which has also been adapted into a movie and cartoon series. Other books written by them are Asterix and the Olympic Games, Asterix and Cleopatra and Asterix the Gladiator. This volume sees Jean-Yves Ferri as the writer and has superb illustrations by Didier Conrad. This hardcover book is available online with the ISBN 10 number of 1444011677 and the ISBN 13 number of 978-1444011678.
