Overview: Ayodhy: The Dark Night

Ayodhya: The Dark Night, dwells on the happenings on the fateful night of 22nd December, 1949, when a Hindu sadhu, Abhiram Das, and his followers tried to place an idol of Lord Ram in Babri Masjid. They faced stiff retaliation from the people inside the mosque. This event was the culmination of the strategy that began to ferment after the assassination of Gandhiji. The authors, Krishna Jha and Dhirender K. Jha, brought together the chain of events that led to this event. The authors, after a series of interviews with eyewitness, and thorough research and investigations have brought to light the reality in the Indian political scenario at that time. The book also subtly states the involvement of Mahasabha members and RSS in the event. The liaison between Mahasabha members and Hindu traditionalists in the Congress is also clearly evident. The authors have also tried to explain how Jawaharlal Nehru had carefully tried to battle this association with Sardar Vallabhai Patel and his right wing associates.

Krishna Jha is a freelance journalist based out of Delhi. He is the biographer of S.A Dange, the founding father of Indian Communist Movement. Dhirendhra K Jha is a political journalist associated with Open Magazine, Delhi.
