Businessman is a 2012 Telugu crime action movie written and directed by Puri Jagannadh. It has superstar Mahesh Babu and the beautiful Kajal Agarwal in the leading roles. R.R. Venkat produced the film, and R.R. movie makers distributed the film.On 13th January 2012 the film opened to a great beginning and was declared a super hit.


Mumbai city is free of all the criminals. There is no underworld prevailing in Mumbai under the watchful eye of the Police Commissioner of Mumbai. At the same time a rookie named Surya enters the Mumbai city with the hopes of becoming an underworld don. His friend, Bhramaji, gives him a place to stay in Dharavi and even offers him a job. But Surya's intentions are clear, he wants to make it big in the city. He meets a local politician, Laalu, who agrees to help him. Surya begins hiring lawbreakers and goons in Mumbai and starts to Extort people for cash. He gradually gains momentum and in the method becomes widespread and feared among the public.

Meanwhile, he also knowingly attempts to get involved with Chitra (Kajal Aggarwal), daughter of the police commissioner of Mumbai. Before he knows it, he actually starts loving the girl. As the film progresses, Surya becomes famous among Dharavi's inhabitants. He comes across as a philanthropist ,an extortionist, an entrepreneur, and a baron.

His friendship with Laalu gets stronger and so do his political connections. Surya sets up a business named "Surya Exports & Imports" which would act as a façade for the organized crime that they indulge in. Surya discloses his plan to grow his grid of organized crime all over India. He initiates branch offices for "Surya Exports & Imports" in all key cities, towns and villages all over India. He recruits local criminals for work and begins to forcefully collect tax on each and every contract done in that area.

Finally Surya becomes a billionaire and later tells to the police commissioner that he not ever wanted money but only authority. He claims that he believes in warfare but not ethics and that the crime rate fell considerably after he started to employ all the criminals. He also states that he wants to free India of criminality and help the poor.

In his hunt of power and achieving his objective of getting India free of crime he transfers his attention towards the imminent Indian parliament polls. He makes Jai Dev unable to challenge in the polls. When he comes to know that Jai dev has kidnapped Chitra to seek vengeance on him, he battles Jai Dev's thugs and finally destroys him and saves Chitra. Impressed by his heroics, Chitra finally accepts his love and they live happily ever after.

  1.  Another commercial movie from Puri which is above average. 15 October, 2013 On
    Business man which star's Maheshbabu is another mafia backdrop story lined flick from Director Purijagannath. It is a treat for fans but for a general viewer like me, it is just an average film. Although it is a hit at boxoffice, there nothing special about the film. Music from taman is above average.

    Bottom line: Watch it if you aren't expecting much from the film.
