About the Movie

Rang De Basanti deals with the story of a young British filmmaker - Sue(Alice Patten), who is determined to shoot a documentary about Indian freedom fighters. She derives inspiration from the diary entries of her late grandfather. She is introduced to DJ (Aamir Khan), Karan (Siddharth), Aslam (Kunal Kapoor), Sukhi (Sharman Joshi) and Sonia (Soha Ali Khan) in Delhi University. The five friends, even after having graduated from the university, are reluctant to move out of the campus. Each of them is feisty and carefree. She develops a strong bond with the group and persuades them to act in her documentary as revolutionary freedom fighters. She even convinces Hindutva-vadi student party-worker Laxman Pandey [Atul Kulkarni] to take the role of Ramprakash Bismil. With a sudden turn of events, these close-knit friends have to step into action. They realize the passion and perseverance of the freedom fighters like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev, and set out to revolt and awaken the country, which is shackled by dirty politics and profiteering corporates. How they do it, makes for an interesting second-half.

Who Will Clean The House First? 23 November, 2013 On
Movie Review: Rang De Basanti: Who Will Clean The House First?
Some movies are not made, they just happen, like birth, like death. Birth of a new born makes us realise of life, death makes us realise that every life should have a meaning else it is useless. This movie is superb. All those who have not seen this movie must go and see.

It makes you touch yourself, your innerself. this inner self sometimes in many lives remains untouched throughout. In most of the lives they touch their inner self momentarily. Few are those who once touch it, live with it, without loosing the contact till death. Those rare ones become - Shahid Bhagat Singh, Lala Lajpat Rai, Vir Savarkar, Tatya Tope, Rani Laxmibai, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Subhash Chandra Bose.

I am not going the discuss the story of the movie. I want to discuss certain other things those arose out while I was coming out of the theater.
    1. how long are we going to keep on singing the songs of freedom fighters and revolutionaries. where are the mothers who give birth to those kind even today, where are the family customs that bring out those jewels out of common people. we feel happy in looking at their photographs in government offices, watching their movies, reading their books (although very less are there who enjoy all this) rest all are good at 9 to 5, family problems, movies, discos, outings, picnics, etc. etc.
    2. if society iand systems are wrong who are we expecting to come like robin hood and change it, who else if not us
    3. we just feel proud and feel good after watching these movies and getting touched for a while, but nothing comes out of it if we remain what we are. not much, I just shared what I felt.

We all want change without being the initiator or being part of it. then no change will happen. every one has to come forward but to bring them forward why out of us come out some Bhagat Singhs, some Chandra Shekar Azads ...... making this movie tax free is a political stunt since this movie highlighted saffrons. But sitting at power do not know that all politician sit this side or that side are same only change is the name of the party they represent. else they eat and drink and enjoy all together. We all are carrying Bhagat Singh and Chandra Shekhar Azad inside us. it is there in our hearts but only sad point is we rarely or seldom reach there, touch them, feel them and then leave them and get busy in our routines. comments please.............
