Easy to use, easy to travel with -- and shockingly inaccurate!
7 May, 2014
I bought the BM35 at CVS drugs. A web search identified Beurer. My device was made in China.
I compared 279 days of data from the previous monitor to 211 days of the BM35.
The BM35 decreased my morning systolic BP by 11 points (about two standard deviations).
The BM35 increased my morning diastolic BP by 3 points (about 3/4 standard deviations).
The BM35 decreased my evening systolic BP by 6 points (about one standard deviation).
The BM35 increased my evening diastolic BP by 5 points (about one standard deviation).
These changes are statistically significant and shocking. The device is mis-engineered, and no one should buy it.
Statistics is my profession, and I've been working at it for over 40 years.
