Overview: The Black Island

The Black Island: The Adventures of Tintin is authored by Hergé. The story is developed around a money counterfeiting racket based in Scotland. While taking a walk in the countryside, Tintin witnesses an aircraft making an emergency landing. As he gets closer to it, he is suddenly shot by the pilot. Later Thomson and Thompson tell him that another plane without any registration number crashed into a field in Sussex. The two incidents prod him into investigating the matter, and another riveting story of the series begins.

Georges Prosper Remi, popularly known as Hergé, was the creator of the The Adventures of Tintin series. The Belgian cartoonist is also famous for his Quick & Flupke and Jo, Zette and Jocko series. In the book, Tintin sets out for England. During his journey, he is framed for the robbery and assault of a fellow passenger, who is actually associated with a secret gang of criminals. Tintin manages to escape imprisonment and arrives in England. Through his investigations, he comes to know about Dr. J.W. Müller and his chauffeur Ivan, who are part of a secret gang that counterfeits money. The group is led by Puschov, the man who falsely accused Tintin of wrongdoing and later kidnapped him. While chasing Müller and Ivan, Tintin's aircraft crashes into a field in rural Scotland. After his recovery, he visits the local pub of the Scottish village where he comes to know about the Black Island. He is told that a dangerous beast roams on the island that kills human beings. The fearless Tintin decides to visit the island and reaches there by a boat. After setting foot in the island he realises that all the myths about the island are contrived to keep people away from the hideout of the money counterfeiting gang.
