Overview: The Book Thief: Film tie-in

The story revolves around a nine year old girl who lives with her Foster family. Her parents took her to a concentration camp and the life of the inhabitants when the bombs fall is portrayed in the epic. One important point to be noted is that the story is narrated by Death and lot of thieves are involved. In fact death will visit the book thief three times in the story. The central character Lessi had to encounter two major shocks at the tender age of 9. One is her brother's death and secondly she is separated from her mother. She is taken into custody by a couple and there she is taught to read and write, at a time where it was not considered necessary for her to do. It is an awesome book after a long time and no doubts to the fact that it is an engrossing read for sure. Markus Zusak is the author of the book who was born in the year 1975. One of his best sellers till now is the "Book Thief" which has been translated into more than 40 languages. Currently he is based in Sydney with his family. The best part of the book is the narration by death. It opens up the chambers of your heart and has a creative angle attached to it. In the final analysis the book is beautiful with a little bit of pain attached to it. 1.  Engrossing Fiction 29 January, 2014 On
The fiction story of The Book Thief by Markus Zusak is about Liesel Meminger during the era 1939 onward in an dummy town of Molching in Germany. Liesel had to encounter two shocks at her age of 9 - one, her brother's death and two, she gets separated from her mother. She then starts living with a couple Hans Hubermann and Rosa Hubermann. She get taunted in school where she joins as at that time she didn't have learnt to read and write.

Overall a serious and engrossing read.
