The story of this novel is based in the future. The novel opens in the year 2540 and showcases the character John. The book says that in future natural reproduction will become obsolete, and children will be created, decanted, and raised in hatcheries and conditioning centres. The great technological advancements and scientific inventions ensure that there will be an ideal society and everyone will be a happy consumer, thanks to the clever mix of genetic brainwashing, engineering, and recreational sex and drugs. This book is a wonderful ride in the future, but in the end the author shows that even after all the developments the core human values and feelings remain the same and nothing can affect these emotions. The book reinforces the fact that humans are emotional animals.
