The Best Beginner-to-Amateur Camera You Can Get Your Hands On !
16 February, 2014
It is certainly difficult to categorize Canon’s EOS 550D as a beginner’s camera or as a top notch professional camera. However, it can certainly render to be one of the most beginner-to-amateur efficient camera. It’s better than its predecessor EOS 500D in terms of megapixel, high screen-resolution and picture quality. This gadget for the photo-buffs steps up to 18MP from a 15MP, with an improved metering system and auto-focus system. The colour intensity is also high. It uses dual sensors to gather the colour and luminance information which helps to calculate the correct exposure settings. Nevertheless, its similar specifications with EOS 7D gives it an edge over other cameras in the race.
Although the ISO range remains 100-6400, it can be expanded to 12800 and therefore takes excellent images in low-light condition as well. It is made available even in auto mode instead of accessing it manually. However, it has only 9 focus points and not 11 points like Nikon DSLRs. EOS 550D is also good for taking videos too. The movement is swift and smooth owing to a high frame rate (30, 25 and 24fps) and 2 inbuilt microphones which helps filter the background noises, giving a clear and better sound. The only turn-off in the model is its plastic body otherwise which it could have been as good as EOS 7D and also at a much lesser price. Therefore, EOS 550D is an excellent camera with all the necessary specifications, for both video as well as still photography.
