Overview: Chanakya Mantra

Chanakya Mantra is the Hindi translation of Chanakya's Chant, a book by Ashwin Sanghi, the author of best selling books like The Krishna Key and The Rozabal Line. He is an Indian author, specialised in the genre of thrillers. All his books are based on theological, mythological and historical themes, in a contemporary context. He completed his graduation from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai and earned an MBA degree in finance from the Yale School of Management. He joined his family business, M.K. Sanghi Group of Companies, in 1993 and now is the director of the concern. Sanghi published his first novel, The Rozabal Line, under the name of Shawn Haigins, which is his anagram-pseudonym. Sanghi was included in the Forbes India Celebrity 100 by Forbes India. Chanakya's Chant tells the story of the renowned strategist and economist Chanakya, who lived in 340 BC. Westland Books published this edition of Chanakya Mantra on 5th July, 2012.

Chanakya Mantra is a novel, in which Sanghi presents two different periods. First he shows a young Brahmin boy, named Chanakya, who is shocked at the gruesome murder of his father and decides to take revenge against the criminal. Using his cold and calculating brain, he plans the murder and gradually becomes the most powerful political strategist of India. Using his skills he unifies Bharat against the army of Alexander the Great and also helps Chandragupta become the emperor of the Mauryan empire. Later, he writes Arthashastra or the science of wealth. History repeats itself after two and a half millennium and the novel now focusses on Gangasagar Mishra, a poor Brahmin teacher. He becomes a puppeteer to a number of ambitious individuals. Sanghi shows how the modern India, quite like the ancient one, is torn apart by corruption and class discrimination. Will this clever brahmin be able to make some miracles happen?

Chanakya's Chant received the Vodafone Crossword Book Award, in 2010. Within two months of its publication it entered some of the major national bestseller lists of India. In 2011, UTV bought the movie rights. Dr. Shashi Tharoor called the novel a "gripping read". Also, The Hindustan Times called the novel "a page-turner". It is in Hindi and has 502 pages. 9381626618 and 9789381626610 are the ISBN 10 and ISBN 13 codes for this edition.
