Overview: Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator

Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, is a fantasy-fiction book written by Roald Dahl, which tells the continuing story of Charlie Bucket and Mr. Willy Wonka. After four of the kids who had won the golden ticket, and a trip to Wonka's chocolate factory are eliminated, the eccentric chocolate-maker hands the company's ownership to Charlie. They then decide to break the news to the rest of the Bucket family, but Mr. Wonka prefers travelling by a special glass elevator. Designed to levitate in free air and travel in any desired direction, the lift is one of a kind.

Willy Wonka, Charlie and Grandpa Joe then take the lift to the Bucket family house, where they have to load the bed with the old family members into the lift because of their reluctance to get up. They then head back to the factory, but a mishap results in the lift being transported to the earth's orbit. Here, they link the elevator to the Space hotel, which has been created by the U.S Government. Things soon turn dangerous, when the troupe is exposed to giant extraterrestrial predators called Vermicious Knids. They now have to save the staff of the hotel along with the astronauts.

Once back from the outer space, Mr. Wonka gives the old grandpas and grandmas a dose of Wonka-Vite to make them younger and energetic, but they ingest a little too much and now, Charlie and the others have to go to Minusland to ensure things get back to normal.
