Overview: The Collected Short Stories Of Roald Dahl

Give into the fine storytelling abilities of Roald Dahl, where he pushes the envelope with stories that will surely send a chill down your spine. Everyone knows the splendid tales spun by Dahl such as Matilda, Charlie and the Chocolate factory, James and the Giant Peach among several other children's stories that made our childhood memorable. But in The Collected Short Stories of Roald Dahl, we see a completely different side of the author with 52 different stories featuring A Piece of Cake, Someone Like You, The Last Act, The Surgeon and and The Way Up to Heaven to name a few.

While A Piece of Cake dwells into the dreams of a pilot who crash-lands in the desert, Someone Like You tells about two bomber pilots discussing the war over drinks in a bar. Each story has its own identity and ends with a cliffhanger ending that leaves you gasping for breath. The book also showcases a parallel timeline explaining the occurrences in the world at the time the story was written along with the incidents in the author, Roald Dahl's life.

Frequently referred to as 'one of the greatest children's writers of all time', Roald Dahl's vivid imagination is renowned in all his stories, where he paints distinct pictures with his words and completely mesmerises the reader.      Roald Dahl is a rockstar!! 31 July, 2013 On
Superbly written stories that are highly entertaining and don't allow the reader to put the book down. Amazing imagination with a detailed narrative is a theme that is common to all the stories by this great author. With the stories' backdrop ranging from London to Egypt, the stories are very different but still have a common thread that binds them together. Overall, fantastic read and recommended to everyone!
