Overview: The Day After Tomorrow

The future of the thriller begins here. The time is now. In Paris, an American surgeon named Paul Osborn sees the man who murdered his father - and tries to kill him. In London, a renowned homicide detective from Los Angeles on assignment to Interpol investigates a baffling series of decapitations. In Geneva, a beautiful medical resident begins a love affair that will change her life forever. In New Mexico, a physical therapist is invited to accompany a very special patient back to Switzerland. And in Germany, a select group of industrialists prepares for a momentous celebration ... Deftly weaving together these disparate events, Allan Folsom reveals an international conspiracy of apocalyptic dimensions, a sinister cabal that will lead Paul Osborn on a heart-pounding chase across Europe - and keep you riveted, turning the pages long into the night. 1.  A perfect thriller - from start to end 3 April, 2013 On
'The Day After Tomorrow' is undisputedly the MOST FAST-PACED book that I've ever read. This is one of those rare works of fiction where action starts right from page #1 and continues till the end of the book - and never do you find the book to be disengaging or the pace to have slowed down. It's just impossible to leave the book halfway - page-turner and unputdownable are the best words to describe a book of The Day after Tomorrow's stature.

Having said a lot about the speed at which the book moves, let us come to the plot. The book is entirely based in Europe - it starts with Paris, where the lead character, Paul Osborn, after nearly 2 decades, sees his dad's killer in the streets of Paris and seeks to uncover the truth behind his father's murder. There are twists and turns with every page turned, as the plot moves from Paris to Berlin to Switzerland. Much as I want to, I'll refrain from commenting on the climax (which I felt kind-of preposterous). Nevertheless, the book is one of the most exciting works of fiction that I've come across till date.
