A Dependable Laptop for Day-To-Day Usage
29 April, 2014
I bought this thing as my second laptop - one to keep at home for my little brother, so of course I was looking for something that will work dependably. So far, this one has not disappointed me in the least.
It's primarily used by him for downloading and watching on-line videos, which isn't really an intensive task, but requires consistency for peace of mind. It has proven capable of running for days without heating up under minimal load. He usually leaves it plugged in and turned on (which is harmful for the battery, but Dell's Desktop Mode helps).
As far as gaming performance is concerned - the RAM is decent and the integrated graphics is good enough for mediocre games young children usually prefer. Don't expect it to run high quality games smoothly - it doesn't have a dedicated graphics card! But at this price, you can't really ask for one.
The Dual Core processor is really just as good as an i3, I didn't see any noticeable difference in performance, and I've used both. But of course, an i5 is probably miles ahead of both, while i7 is in its own league.
The keyboard is comfy, body is sturdy.
If you use Wi-Fi, you should be happy with this laptop as it has an Intel Wireless card, instead of the usual cheap Realtek cards found in laptops of this range.
Overall, this is more than good enough for anyone looking to just buy a good laptop to write out documents, browse the web, and casual gaming.
