Overview: The Diary of a Young Girl

The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank remains, till date, a cult classic and one of the best autobiographies that captures the heart and mind of a little girl witnessing the atrocities of World War II and yet being hopeful - "Despite everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart." Anne Frank was gifted this diary on her thirteenth birthday, which was during the reign of Hitler, when Jews faced mindless slaughter in the hands of the Nazi Government. For the next two years, while her family was in hiding in the 'Secret Annex', she recorded her daily events, emotions and the terror of war faced by her family in this dairy. Anne Frank penned her innermost feelings here with candid fearlessness. Know about Frank's experiences through her fascinating commentary.

Anne and her family survived until their whereabouts became known to the Gestapo. During this phase, she faced hunger and constant fear of death. With no contact with the outside world, the diary shows how Anne Frank had her hopes and aspirations alive till she was ruthlessly killed. Anne Frank's diary has become world famous for recounting the horrors of WWII and for her undying spirit. Frank's experiences, penned down without any filtration, makes this book extremely moving. This diary was given to Anne Frank's father, the only survivor, by their family friend after the war was over. Since then this book has been published in various languages and ranks among the top twenty books to be read. Live through Anne's catastrophic life and be inspired by her courageous spirit. A book where each one will have their own take away, this diary is a must-read.

  2.  A beautiful book 3 March, 2014 On
It is a beautiful book that documents what the Jewish people went through during the Nazi regime through the eyes of a child. A must read for anyone who wants to understand the holocaust , a crime that claimed the lives of 6 million Jews as well as half a million Roma/Sinti people.
