If you're a cricket fan as well as a video game fan, you will know that few game-makers have managed to bring out the complexities of Cricket, with its intricate and elaborate rules. Don Bradman Cricket 14, developed by Big Ant Studios and published by Tru Blu Entertainment, has managed to capture these features, and is the cricket game that has received the best reviews since Brian Lara or Jonty Rhodes cricket.
Don Bradman Cricket 14 has different playing modes:
Create your own cricket player, and use them to play matches and make their own progress. Your player will usually begin at the age of sixteen, and have a twenty year long career (or less, if you prefer).
Cricket Academy Program
The Cricket Academy program allows you to create and edit your own teams and players, and arrange your own matches. It gives you the freedom to customize your game according to your personal taste. At the beginning, you will be provided with the original cricket stats of every player, which you can modify at will. Once you have formulated your team, you can set your own Tours, Competitions, Match Types and even Umpires!
A few weeks before release, Big Ant Studios updated the academy to incorporate the 'Practice Nets' feature into it. This allows players to practice and master their skills before entering a professional tournament.
The game possesses "Unique Batting and Bowling Controls" that provide you with a full 360 shot delivery without using shot markers that feel artificial and contrived.
The "Fully featured Fielding System" allows you to control all the events taking place on the field, for an unparalleled in-game fielding experience. You can be involved in the fielding just as much as when batting and bowling. For example, this feature provides you with the control to chase down the ball, catch a high ball, make a slide-catch, or make a run out, as well as other fielding moves.
The Ball Physics in Don Bradman Cricket 14 is aid to have "realistic edges and ball movement off players". In other words, it will be easy to consider this game's ball real, because it looks real, and it moves like a real ball when bouncing, caught, or simply moving off the pitch.
Don Bradman Cricket 14 also allows you to appeal, and look to electric reviews, so you can challenge the game's umpire if he makes a questionable decision. The commentary team consists of Matthew Hill and David Basheer will be the commentators for most matches.
The game also features a dynamic time of day, as well as a Weather System and Pitch Degradation, so you'll have the real-world effects of fading light, moving shadows, wind, clouds and rainfall leading to good or bad pitch conditions occurring in real time during game-play. These are all based on real data compiled in the real world.
