At the age of 32, the author, Elizabeth Gilbert had a home, husband and a flourishing career as a writer. She divorced her husband due to unhappiness in her marriage. She tried to return to her husband which turned out to be unsuccessful making her more stressed and lonely. After the divorce, she travelled for a year across the world. Elizabeth spent four months in Italy "Eat"ing in Italy; three months in India practising spirituality and thus "Pray"ing. She completed her tour in Indonesia to "Balance" these two and happened to fall in love with a businessman from Brazil.
