Description
Five Point Someone: What not to do at IIT! is a 2004 novel written by Chetan Bhagat, an alumnus of Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi and Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. The book sold more than a million copies worldwide. The popular Hindi movie 3 Idiots is based on this book. The book is narrated by Hari, with some small passages by his friends Ryan and Alok, as well as a letter by Hari's girlfriend Neha Cherian. It deals with the lives of the three friends, whose elation on making it to one of the best engineering colleges in India is quickly deflated by the rigor and monotony of the academic work. Most of the book deals with the numerous attempts by the trio to cope with and/or beat the system as well as Hari's fling with Neha who just happens to be the daughter of Prof. Cherian, the domineering head of the Mechanical Engineering Department of their college. 2.  Exciting : And not the Xerox of “3 Idiots” (get over the misconception) 31 May, 2013 On Junglee.com
    Genre: Comedy, Thriller
    Language: Witty, Easy English
Brief: Three college kids and their college life. One, the son of a rich; the other, a middle class family and the other from a poor family. The story starts with their meet-up in a ragging session when a senior asked one of them to push a coke bottle through their back-hole. The story goes on as it goes on with their years of college life; and finally ends, when all of them got some works to do after college.
Comments (in brief): Some people say, it is the same as the Bollywood movie “3 Idiots”, and I say, they are exactly wrong. Well, it does have some similarities, but it’s not the same. And the fun in reading and then imagining and then enjoying is much better than watching the movie at a shot. Believe me, the former one is much more remembered and stays, some people call it “Book Hangover”. If you are a mediocre reader, you can complete the book within a day or two, and believe me, once you start with few pages, you won’t keep it down. So enjoy reading.

One of the crappiest book I have ever read 9 July, 2014 On Junglee.com
This book to my surprise has garnered so much accolade in India that's exactly shows how much India and its youth has evolved intellectually. The author has used the immaturity of Indian youth and their delinquency in order to capitalize his very ordinary full of crap plot which doesn't have any literary significance whatsoever. Actually this is not a literature , its a trash.
I would like to tell Mr Baghat that "Five Point Someone" might be the object of fancy for someone who has just crossed their puberty and the world is nothing but a bunch of hormones for them but this does not at all appeal to the intellectual people.
And if someone says that this is for the mass than I am so disappointed that the mass in India is so happy to read this trash and you are so happy in producing this trash.
Why don't you learn some writing skills from Hussein or Jhumpa or Salman and then think of writing again, may be you are able to write something that can add value and that can provoke an intellectual. This way you can raise capital for you but what you are giving back to society "CRAP"

    yes,
this book is so far the most sincere writing from Chetan Bhagat.
i dont blame him for diluting his writing now, as he is targeting them to get converted into movies, so the script writers of the movie has pretty much room to improve the story :)
