Gauge Inc., located in Brooklyn, NY, has been handcrafting unique objects in metal for many years. Founded by Paul Smotrys, a self-taught artist, he started showing his sculpture in Philadelphia in his early twenties. "I've always been fascinated by the opposing properties of metal. Hard/soft, sharp/smooth, immediate/laborious are examples."

His inspiration is that place in between art and industry. The beauty and integrity of metal is the underlying bond within the collection. The results are designs that are straight forward, clean and visually compelling.

Some of his objects include decorative letters and words in many styles, personal cake toppers, simple jewelry in 14k gold and sterling silver, copper vases reminiscent of vintage pipe fittings, modern interpretations of oval shaker boxes, and the most stunning collection of one-of-a-kind snowflake sculptures.
