A two & half hour long torture
20 January, 2014
Ghanchakkar's promo n starcast looked promising. What the promo showed was that Emraan loses his memory & he is made to trace down a certain sum of money for some goons at gun point. I thought it would be something like the Bourne Identity(please pardon me for that) where the lead protagonist loses his memory but still manages to find out all about himself using his intellect based on small things around him and in the end stands victorious.
So just imagine my disappointment when I found out out that unlike Matt Damon, our lead doesn't believe in clearing the mess he made.
The pace is too slow right from the beginning. The dialogues aren't funny. Few things were a bit funny in the earlier part but after they were repeated over & over again, they got boring too. It looked like the director just wanted to finish this movie in a hurry. Emraan Hashmi was good but Vidya Balan with her punjabi accent doesn't live upto the expectation. It was so irritating when she kept using that expression 'hai'.
In the beginning, the question in my mind was, if not Imraan then who has the money?
In the end, the questions multiplied like what was Imraan's friend's role and why did he vanish all of a sudden, was Vidya loyal to Imraan, what happens to money in the end?
Damn!! The movie gave birth to more questions than it gave us the answers to.
Though I must appreciate one thing, we were kept busy wondering whats gonna happen next throughout da movie.
We expect something every now & then and that thing never happens. You might call it unpredictability. I would like to call it lack of a good script.
So when we finally reach the last few minutes of the movie, we are all waiting for some answers to our questions & expecting the twist in the tale n suddenly begins a blood shed that I m sure nobody would have expected.
And this is how the movie comes to an abrupt end.
Yup! This is how a much awaited movie from a renowned director comes to an end & audience are in state of dilemma whether to wait for d reality to sink in that they just wasted 2:30 hrs of their lives to watch what I m having trouble calling a movie or just thank Almighty that the ordeal was over.
Bottom line is that the movie lacks a good story, dialogues, screenplay and they didn't even show us Altaf Raja's comeback song(I think that tops my list of why I didnt like the movie).
