Great smartphone in a reasonable price + Home for two Sim
12 August, 2014
I bought this smartphone from Dharmendra Electronics, 12 Corporation Market, NaudraBrdige, Jabalpur (Phone: 0761-2403780). I was searching for an Android based phone because I wanted to develop apps and customize any existing apps provided in the phone. Earlier I have used Nokia Lumia with Windows OS for about an year. It was a good experience. Still I wanted to try an Android phone. This was the best with a reasonable price tag. It is manufactured in Dongguan City, China and imported by Trust Marketing in Jaipur.
I am already using it for about two months. I have not observed any defect yet. The outer casing can be easily removed to access sim-card and battery case. The battery is certainly bigger. It lasts more than expected hours. The battery life provided is 2250mAh. As long as you are not playing the inbuilt games (Kingdom of Lords by GAMESOFT), the battery can last really long. There are two cameras for front facing conference calls as well as rear one to take snapshots (Of course you can take snaps with front facing camera as well). Compared to 15MegaPixel smartphones, the cameras on this phone are not there yet. It is still stuck at 5MegaPixel, but I didn't buy it for resolution. So it was not an issue for me. Ofcourse I would have liked it more, had there been a 15MegaPixel camera. Yes, you can do a video recording too and that will be a bit of load on battery life. Battery can be charged with the USB cable by plugging into any USB port. And there is wall charging available as well.
About operating system, it has Andriod OS v4.2 Jelly Bean. Andriod is really hot among developers. Many features on this OS runs smooth. Being Dual SIM, the 3G network receiver on this phone operates on Ultra High frequency of 900/2100MHz, best for such networks. The display is TFT based and touch sensitivity is comparable. It has bluetooth and wireless capability both,
There are several software applications (called as apps) in this phone. Amigo paper, Search, News & Weather, Wireless Input Device, SIM Toolkit, Games (web-based), Tools (compass, sound recorder, FM radio, calc, clock, calendar, torch and notes), Kingsoft Office, WeChat, Cricket, Google+, Messenger, Saavn, WhatsApp Download, TouchPalX, GTalk, Gmail, Email, App Manager, Google Maps for navigation, Local, Voice Search, GioneeXender, DuBattery Saver, Weather, Youtube, PlayStore, Facebook, Twitter and UC Browser. To be frank, I do not need all of 'em, but it is good to use 'em whenever I need 'em. Did I mention that it also has a SMS Scheduler. This is further helpful especially if you do not intend to forget special messages for birthdays. It doesn't work on my smartphone because it kept asking for some password.
There are GPS, Gyro and Light sensor. GPS sensor is a really useful feature especially with Google Maps and navigation. In India, GPS is not available everywhere. If it is available then it comes with a steep price. Unlike western countries where GPS is extremely necessary feature for daily life, several Indian consumers are yet to wake up to use GPS in their phones. Yet it is there in the phone, and if you get a trip abroad, the GPS in the phone can be used. Ofcourse you will need to buy country specific sim. The gyro detects the orientation and some of sensor parameters are also used for inbuilt Compass app. They could have done a lot with Gyro though. They could have given an acceleration based app. That would have been fun for physics classes. The light sensor is fairly standard. Unlike several smartphones manual that provide a complete usability instruction for first time sensor users, the manual included in the package does not talk much about the sensors. First time user may not get any information on how to use these sensors. I am saying this because I had another smartphone that had many sensors including humidity, temperature, and flex sensors. The guide book had detailed instructions on how to use these sensors and about the sensor related apps.
The USB charging cord connector gets loose due to some issue with plastic after using for more than 1 month. It does not contact well with the phone contact.
Overall it is a good smartphone. Definately, I was looking for more sensors and sensor related apps. Perhaps better touch sensitive screen would have earned them all 5 stars. It is comparable to Nokia Lumia and Samsung smartphones.
