  1.  A true masterpiece: Definitely one of my all-time favorites 2 April, 2013 On
I'm a great fan of Jeffrey Archer's writing - all thanks to one book - Kane and Abel, which is arguably the only book till date that made me cry. I can't imagine that I actually had tears rolling down my eyes while flipping through the last page of this book.
A true page-turner in every sense of the phrase, 'Kane and Abel' is a story of two people - William Lowell Kane, a rich banker and Abel Rosnovski, who starts his life as a waiter at a small Hotel and later builds a chain of Hotels. Jeffrey Archer has quite remarkably pictured the duel between the two characters and the animosity that one has for another in the second half of the book, and the climax just takes you to an all new high that you need a while to get back to reality after putting the book down.

More than how the story is woven, it's the way Archer structures his sentences in the book that I'm a great fan of. There is one particular line in this book to the tune of : "She was so beautiful that everybody except Kane turned to have a second look at her..Kane's eyes never left her" that had me totally bowled over.

The characterization of the dual between Kane and Abel might ring a bell, and probably get you bored if you've previously read Archer's 'Sons of Fortune'.

  2.  Great book but expected much better from Jeffery Archer 7 March, 2014 On
The book deals with two boys who are born in different condition but are having the same attitude of winning the world. Kane born at poor family and he struggled a lot to be the respected person. He suffered violence , barbaric attitude of army etc. Later he was the owner of finest hotel chains in USA.
Abel on the other hand was son of a rich person, He joined army. Kane and Abel encounter each other most of times in the book ,but best encounter happens when their son and daughter fell in love with each other.
So this book contains full of drama , success stories, struggle and bold scenes but story is rather plane and monotonous.
So novel lovers keep it a 2nd choice.
