Not for the Uninitiated
3 April, 2014
It's been a little less than an year since I bought my Karbonn Titanium S5 from a nice little shop in Parihar Chowk, Pune. It was the only one of the two or three shops I'd visited around there to have it. My expectations had risen as, each time I asked for this Smart Phone, it caused a kind of reaction. It appeared as though this item was on the wish list of many. Admittedly, it was not the fashion crowd nor the well-heeled. So I was already sold on it when I found a shop that had one.
Except that it has the look and shape and size of most other such phones, it has not given me any of the benefits of possessing it.
The main irritant is the speed with which the battery runs low.
Secondly, the touch functions go berserk at the drop of a hat leading to amusing but frustrating scenarios: I'm trying to call x. The phone calls y, z, etc. in rapid succession indicating that there is something very wrong in its "wiring" or whatever but the mischief is done and I have to apologise to all and sundry who call back to find out what that was all about.
Lastly, there is no sensible support on offer. A couple of emails to and fro with the company took me nowhere. And so I have been unable to get Foursquare, Whatsapp or even the Amazon app on it, try as I will.
There is a Face Book group dedicated to this phone but it is entirely populated with nerds.
Buy this phone only if you're extremely good with an understanding of all things android and the specific speak necessary to decipher various developer codes.
