Overview: Khasakkinte Itihasam: 1

A seminal story of a young man's journey through self-realization and self-discovery. Written in Malayalam, the story is about Ravi who is at the cusp of life that promises the best for him. He is about to go to Princeton University in a research position, in the field of astrophysics, is about to embark on a life of wedded bliss with a woman he loves -what could go wrong? Ravi goes on to have an illicit affair with his stepmother, and this costs him everything.

Filled with guilt and remorse; he is consumed by shame and self-loathing for himself. In this state of mind, he walks away from his almost perfect future including his love, career and family. His objective is to escape from all that's familiar and starts over with new pursuits and find the meaning of life.

He finds himself in a small village, Khasak near Palakkad. This small place has its own legends, stories and interesting characters. Ravi sets up a school there and tries to help the village understand life better with some disciplined education. This becomes his own learning process as he starts to discover himself and understand himself better. Slowly, he starts getting the answers to the various lingering questions springing up within him.

He also goes to Swami Bodhananda's ashram in this journey and the book ends with Ravi shown waiting at the temporary stop at Kooman Kavu with a smile on his face. He is ready to begin his next phase of self-discovery.
