I found most of the reviews I read here kind of silly. These speakers are great. They were highly reviewed by PC Mag back in the day and they are still great. I bought them in 2003 and I did read up on them before I bought them. I had the Asus Deluxe motherboard and a fully digital sound card. I was coming off a component stereo system with all top of the line components and I was used to a certain sound from my equipment. These speakers deliver. Bass is great (and loud), sound quality is great. The 5.1 is flawless. Way back when my neighbors complained and to be honest, they are still complaining. I read about the hiss and the lack of power and a few other complaints and I can basically answer them all. While its true they are digital speakers and years ago they were ahead of their time, today we have digital TV and digital converter cable boxes. There is no excuse for driving these speakers with analogue input. You don't want to hear the hiss, use digital input. Its a simple RCA-RCA SPDIF cable and the hiss goes away. You want loud, use a digital input. Its a simple RCA-RCA SPDIF cable and you get loud. Adjust the Sub for max and the Center speaker down and you got loud & heavy. You want true 5.1 stereo sound, its a simple RCA-RCA SPDIF and presto, you have true 5.1 stereo output. The speakers are amazing. Set the input to 'Digital Coax' and the controller does the rest. Sorry, have to go now.... my neighbors are knocking again :)
