Overview: In The Land of Soviets

Tintin in the Land of the Soviets is a comic book created by Hergé, which first appeared in a weekly comic strip format in 1929 in the children's supplement of the newspaper, Le Vingtième Siècle. The comic strips came out in black and white were widely read, and hence, after its completion, the story was printed in a book. It still remains the only comic in the Adventures of Tintin series, which has not been reprinted in colour.

Tintin, along with Snowy, sets out from Brussels on a mission to the Soviet Union, where he has to uncover the truth behind the fascist government. But as he travels on a train, his mission is sabotaged, when he is framed as a terrorist and locked up. Even after he escapes the prison, the police is constantly chasing him and so are the OGPU agents. People are trying to kill Tintin, and he does not know why. Join the young reporters first and most exciting case as he and Snowy get to the bottom of the conspiracy.

Hergé was a pen name adopted by Georges Prosper Remi, which became synonymous with the character of Tintin all over the world. After the first album in The Adventures of Tintin was introduced in 1929, the series went on to become one of the best comic book series of the 20th century and is widely followed even today. The franchise has inspired a cartoon series and also a film by Steven Spielberg. Other notable works by Hergé include Quick & Flupke and The Adventures of Jo, Zette and Jocko. He was inducted into the Comic Book Hall of Fame in 2003 and continues to be a strong influence for comics even today.
