As a sequel to the Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Crystal Dynamics has developed the next in the series - Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris (PC).
Lara Croft, the British archaeologist, who is an adventurer in search of ancient relics, has to join forces with her rival archaeologist named Carter Bell, in this Lara Croft Series Golden Edition. Both Lara and Carter are in search of the fabled Staff of Osiris, and so they break into the ancient Temple of Osiris, buried in the deep deserts of Egypt. When Carter removes the Staff from its resting place, he inadvertently triggers a trap cursing him and Lara, and they are both marked for death. In this process, they unleash the evil god, Set, as well as the gods Horus and Isis. In order to save themselves and to find a way to break the curse, Lara and Carter have to help Isis and Horus to resurrect Osiris, the only god capable of removing the curse. As Lara and her companions fight their way across the sands and through ancient tombs, legendary gods and monsters come alive. The world is at stake, and Lara is put in a position to uncover the fragments of Osiris not just to break her curse, but also to stop Set from enslaving all mankind.
According to Egyptian mythology, Osiris is the father of the god Horus. Osiris was killed by his brother Set, who wanted Osiris' throne. Isis, the wife of Osiris, joined the fragmented pieces of Osiris, but the only body part missing was the phallus. Isis made a golden phallus and with the use of an ancient spell, briefly brought back Osiris to life. In this short period, she became pregnant by Osiris and gave birth to Horus. Since Horus was born after Osiris' resurrection, Horus was believed to be a representation of new beginnings and the vanquisher of the evil Set.
