  1.  A Dark Tale of Abuse 22 April, 2015 On
Mazie Baby by Julie Frayn was emotionally draining, but it was totally worth every second of it. We are no strangers to domestic abuse and we live in such sad times that we know it happens to many around us. What is sadder is those who are at the receiving end live such lonely and hopeless lives.
Mazie Reynolds lives with her husband Cullen and daughter Ariel. What looks like a perfect life from the outside is actually a nightmare for Mazie. Cullen is a sadist maniac who torments, beats, rapes, abuse, controls and manipulates Mazie. Mazie’s only light in her bleak existence is her adorable 12 year old daughter Ariel. Mazie takes it all in biding time and hoping to get away from it all.
The trigger for Mazie’s breaking point, her actions, her emotions on the decisions she takes all make you ache for her. Julie Frayn has described details with so much clarity I could very much sense the pain and I was trembling with distress while reading the book. On finishing it, I cried for a very long time and at the end of it all I could do was silently pray and hope that women find strength in themselves to walk out and seek help. This is a story that everyone should read. I applaud and salute the author for taking such a brave stand.
