Description
Drifters in search of work, George and his simple-minded friend Lennie, have nothing in the world except each other - and a dream. A dream that one day they will have some land of their own. Eventually they find work on a ranch, but their hopes are doomed as Lennie - struggling against extreme cruelty, misunderstanding and jealousy - becomes a victim of his own strength. Tackling universal themes, friendship and a shared vision, and giving a voice to America's lonely and dispossesed, OF MICE AND MEN remains Steinbeck's most popular work.

  1.  A Serious Thought Provoking Book 29 January, 2014 On Junglee.com
Of Mice and Men written by John Steinbeck was first published in 1937. It talks about the period when America was going through a serious depression phase of more than a decade starting with the severe crash of American stock market in last quarter of 1929. It went on till the second world war broke out. It had many serious effects on American economy and social life of Americans. The scarcity of employment caused many side effects.

Quite serious and thought provoking book...

  2.  There is a reason why this book has a place on most must read book lists 1 December, 2013 On Junglee.com
The book coherently narrates the story of 2 men - George & Lennie who share the same dream of owning a little farm for themselves. Both aren't very bright but have each other's back when things get tough which is most of the time.

It is very difficult to put down this masterpiece once you've started reading. I simply couldn't bring myself to put it down.

It is a short book. A perfect read when you're waiting at a restaurant or are commuting in a train/bus.
