Microsoft Wireless Mobile 1000 Mouse review: A good compact mouse that gets the job done!!
26 June, 2014
Microsoft's - Wireless Mobile 1000 - is a black colour 3-button (left, scroll, right) wireless optical mouse that comes with a nano transceiver for wireless connection.
Overall it has a matte black finish and glossy black edges with scroll wheel being white. This makes it look good, although the white scroll wheel tends to pickup dust overtime. The mouse itself is compact for an average palm and needs one AA Alkaline battery which is provided (Duracell) out-of-the-box. The compact size and lightweight of the mouse can be portable to carry, although, on the flip side, it may not suit those who have larger than average palm size.
The mouse is plug-n-play with the help of nano transceiver and does not need any special setup process. Also there is an on/off switch at the back which is helpful to save battery when mouse is not in use. The left and right click buttons are sturdy and crisp to use without any fuss whatsoever.
The mouse is a 1000dpi standard mouse with fairly good accuracy for all purposes other than professional gaming. Also it has a good range, so it can be useful in scenarios like, say, to watch a movie from some distance. I have used it on various surfaces and it has responded well, although a bit wobbly sometimes on the glass surface, which can be expected to an extent.
The battery life of this mouse is stated for 10 months by the company. In my normal day-to-day life usage, over the two years, I have seen it perform at an average of one battery per year. Power users can expect a bit less though.
Overall, if you are a casual user with an average palm size and seeking a good, budget wireless mouse for daily driver, then you should definitely consider this mouse. It will get the job done.
