  1.  Amazing toy for the family 25 June, 2013 On
I own an X-Box 360 elite with a 250 GB hard disk, but had bought it before the Kinect Sensor was launched. I later saw Microsoft's launch video for the Kinect and was totally impressed with the revolutionary technology and the tag line, "You are the controller". While the concept of motion gaming with devices was picking up at a steady pace, Microsoft just took it to the next level with the Kinect Sensor. It had motion sensors that could identify people standing in front of the sensor and had a voice recognition system with multiple microphones, to identify the user. After reading initial reviews about the product and checking compatibility of the Kinect with older generation X-Box consoles, I decided to buy it. I bought it on and got a Kinect Adventures DVD with the package.

That was just the beginning, my kids and I totally loved it and spent most time playing Kinect games. The controller games took a back step and now, all my kids wanted were Kinect games since they were so much fun. While entertainment is just one aspect, I realized there are games for all family members. While there are a lot of games for kids, the elders could benefit from fitness training DVDs - which guide you on workout sessions, dance DVDs - helping you learn to dance plus providing you with a good workout sessions.

The only con, I see with the console is its placement, you have to place it in front of the TV most of the time, which could be an hindrance to some of the other devices and also has a risk of younger kids tampering with it. But, then there are some good TV mounts available in the market which can be easily fixed on top of your TV and cuts down the hassle.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this to everyone who wants to take entertainment and motion gaming in their homes to the next level. The price has also substantially dropped since I bought it, plus you have the advantage of connecting it to the older generation of X-Box consoles as well.

  2.  Revolutionary device. Will forever change the way you play video games! 1 December, 2013 On
One of the best pieces of technology in recent times. I couldn't stop thinking about the possibilities when Microsoft demoed Kinect.

Apart from the fact that there aren't a lot of amazing games tailored specifically for Kinect and that not all the games developed for it make use of all the features is a sad, sad reality.

Most Kinect games are amateurish. Despite this it's fun to play table tennis, boxing, throwing javelins, etc.

Kinect also works as a mic for when you're playing Xbox live. I tried it after my headset broke down. Handsfree speaking!
