Overview: Mind The Gaffe

English may be the most widely spoken of all languages; it is also one of the most misused. Exasperated by the poor quality of written English he encounters every day, Larry Trask has set himself the task of listing and then analysing the most common slips and gaffes perpetrated by students, teachers, journalists and other professionals whose business is??"theoretically, at least??"words. With wit and panache he inveighs against sloppy thinking, poor grammar, clumsy style and a host of other language sins. His book will prove essential and salutory reading for anyone who ever puts pen to paper or finger to word processor.

  1.  A must read for budding authors 24 August, 2014 On Junglee.com
Mind the gaffe is an excellent read for all the people who want to understand English language and want so save themselves from the embarrassment from using wrong words at the right places and missing right phrases at the apt places. This book describes common errors in English that we usually do while speaking or writing. It discusses the words which are confusing like carousel and carosoul .it talks about the adverbial formations of the words which are pretty important in spoken English. There are also definitions provided for difficult worlds and differentiation given with explainations where words sound pretty much the same but they differ in meaning drastically. What is the difference between stimulus and stimulant. What is the difference between strait and straits. You would find such answers in this book.
This book can prove to be useful for anyone looking to learn .
