Mockingjay: Hunger Games Trilogy begins with the return of Katniss to her home in District 12. Katniss returns home only to find District 12 in ruins. Led by President Coin, the residents of District 13 have survived The Dark Days by moving underground. The book narrates the events after Katniss arrives at 13 and agrees to become the Mockingjay, the symbol of the revolution, but on one condition. She wants her friends captured by the Capitol to be declared as loyalists and not traitors. She also wants to kill Snow if the rebels are victorious. In the story Peeta, who has been hijacked and brainwashed using a venom, tries to choke Katniss to death but fails. Katniss heals and then takes up the mission of killing Snow, only to find that it was not him who killed Prim. Snow tells Katniss that it was Coin who betrayed everyone and even executed her sister in an explosion. Whom should Katniss trust, Coin or Snow? What will Katniss do to take the revenge? Will Peeta be free of the influence of the venom or will he try to kill Katniss again?

Katniss has survived two Hunger Games and the destruction of her District. Now the face of the rebellion, she must endure the consequences of her actions and an unstable future.

Mockingjay is an amazing finale to the Hunger Games trilogy. It slowly gains momentum until you are barreling to a conclusion that is not only immensely satisfying, but unpredictable to the last word. The message we take for granted in the first two books of the series is eloquently driven home in Mockingjay
