Overview: Modern Classics a Clockwork Orange

A Clockwork Orange has inspired one of the most notorious films ever made. It revolves around a 16-year old, delinquent named Alex. The story is set in a strange dystopian future and gives the reader a glimpse about the main character, who spends his free time in senseless violence, theft, rape and classical music.

The anti-hero is accompanied by droogs, who betray him and get him thrown in a state prison. While in prison he agrees to be a guinea pig of a morally dodgy experiment to alter his violent mind and cure him of all his wicked impulses. He agrees with a hope that he will be released from jail early, but with an aversion therapy, he is systematically brainwashed until he cannot wilfully cause harm without becoming violently nauseous. After the therapy, he walks free but cannot cope with the familiar dystopia that he relished. His former droogs who are now policemen beat him up and is subjected to a number of encounters in which former victims take revenge for his previous misdeeds.

This thought provoking novel is authored by Anthony Burgess, who is a successful novelist, playwright, screenwriter, critic, composer, poet, travel writer, essayist, and librettist. He worked as a translator, broadcaster, linguist and educationalist. Nothing Like the Sun is one of his famous works. Published by Penguin, the book is listed under ISBN 10 reference number 0141182601 and ISBN 13 reference number 978-0141182605. Buy online and get it delivered at your doorstep within a few days.
