Moth Smoke….. A tale of a man in the city of Lahore.

It is the story of a man Darashikoh Shehzad(Daru) who loses his job, falls in love with with his best friend's wife, tries heroin and gets himself involved in crime.

The novel appeals to you because of many reasons.
Firstly, the writing style is unique. The author’s character descriptions are deep. He describes each character’s thoughts and actions with remarkable wit.

Secondly, in this novel one thing that I really like is that the author has given one chapter each to other three main characters as well. In those chapters he has penned their take on the present story, how they feel about things, basically their side of the story.

Thirdly, in the book , he immediately connects with you and after the first page only, you are intrigued and you want to know more about Daru and his life.

Lastly, he has acutely and critically analyzed the young men and women of Pakistan during that time.

Moth Smoke was his debut novel. ‘The Reluctant Fundamentalist’ and ‘How to get filthy rich in rising Asia’ are the other two under his name.
