Directed by famous Indian filmmaker Prakash Mehra, Muqaddar Ka Faisla is a typical drama-oriented Bollywood film produced by another big name in the Indian film industry, Yash Johar. The film was released in 1987 and stars Raaj Kumar, Raakhee, and Raj Babbar, who play pivotal roles. A few other notable names in this Prakash Mehra film include Tina Munim, Meenakshi Sheshadri, and Pran, who is at his villainous best. The Muqaddar Ka Faisla songs have been composed by Bappi Lahiri, who is well known for his disco music.
The story of this Prakash Mehra movie revolves around Pandit Krishnakant (Raaj Kumar), who is a simple and honest man. He has a family to take care of, and as a Hindu pandit, earns just enough to feed his family. Unfortunately, the pandit, though a simple man, gets embroiled in a rape and embezzlement issue. Someone cunningly framed the poor man in the case. The situation only turns worse for the priest and his family, when the former is charged on both these counts and is sent to prison as punishment.
With no one left to feed the hungry mouths in his family, Pandit Krishnakant’s loved ones are destitute. Years go by and finally the day comes when the priest is released from the prison. His first task, once out of prison, is to locate his family, which he is unable to do. With anguish raging in his heart for the years that he has lost and the time he spent living apart from his family, the pandit plots his revenge against those who caused him and his dear ones harm.
