Overview: Nefertiti

Do you have a passion for Egyptian history and culture? Does their haunting past fascinate you? Then Neferiti is a book you will enjoy. Nefertiti is the story of an Egyptian family in ancient Egypt. It is fictional but yet stays true to the culture that existed during the ancient times. It narrates the story of two sisters, one of whom is destined to become historys most legendary and mystifying queens. The book has been written by Michelle Moran and published by Quercus Publications.

The book begins with the lives of Nefertiti and her sister Mutnodjmet, who have been raised in powerful families. Their family is renowned for providing wives to the pharaohs of ancient Egypt since centuries. The first chapter starts off with the death of Tuthmosis in 1351 BCE. After his death, his younger brother, Amunhotep is set to become the pharaoh. Amunhotep is violently unstable in nature. Nefertiti is chosen to be his wife because she has a strong character. Everyone assumes that her strong personality will ease Amunhoteps megalomaniacal plans for Egypt. The story has been narrated from Nefertitis sister, Mutnodjmets point of view. Unlike her sister, Mutnodjmet is a quiet, reserved girl. She also becomes Nefertitis handmaiden and soon uncovers a conspiracy by the priests who are in cahoots with the military to overthrow Amunhoteps rule.

The novel then shifts its attention on Nefertitis dangerous ambition and relies on it to move the story forward. It becomes a tale of political unrest, love and betrayal which has been masterfully written by the author. Even though Nefertiti has been portrayed as a negative character, the author spares little time to come to her defence and justify her actions as those of a woman who was far ahead of her time. The book has been so beautifully crafted by the author that you will actually find yourself witnessing the events in person. This volume is a must have for anyone who has a passion for history, political thrillers and loves Ancient Egyptian culture.

The author, Michelle Moran, used to work as a volunteer at archeological digs. She puts her years of experience in writing historical fiction. Her novels have been bestsellers and translated in more than twenty languages. Some of her bestsellers include The Heretic Queen, Madame Tussaud, Cleopatras Daughter and The Second Empress. The paperback edition of Nefertiti is available for purchase online with an ISBN-10 number of 1847242987 and an ISBN-13 number of 978-1847242983.
