Value for money 8 November, 2013 On Junglee.com
Finally Nokia seems to have cracked the mid and low segment phones. Lumia 520 is an awesome phone for its price range. Instead of buying an Asha phone, go for this one and enjoy the awesome Windows operating system.

     Handy, Durable & Affordable - Nokia 30 November, 2013 On Junglee.com
The cheapest in the Lumia phones, it is handy and can be used with one hand. The build is solid, easily one of the best-looking and well-built devices in Nokia’s entire WP8 range. The Lumia 520 sports a larger 4-inch IPS display, but lacks the Dolby headphone enhancement featured in the 620 and above, but despite this, the audio quality through headphones is good. Available in a variety of colours, the Lumia 520 looks modern and fresh thanks to a soft, matte finish for the entire chassis. The 520 is also very good when it comes to macro shots, giving you ample depth of field; however, it lacks the flash. Battery life is good and will last easily the whole day with average amount of use. Memory is expandable with the memory card.

The unique feature is the solid nokia build quality which is now on Windows device- loved it!

The price of around 8000 bucks makes it very appealing for the new windows phone users to try and also in entry level segment. Overall, a nice phone :)

  3.  Choice is always yours 16 May, 2014 On Junglee.com
Yes, everybody knows that ANDROID owns 80% of the smart phone market worldwide and WINDOWS own only 3%, but I would request you to stand out and not buy what anyone else in the neighbourhood does or at least think before doing so. I bought a NOKIA LUMIA 520 last month for Rs 7449/- and I can vouch for it. It’s a complete value for money. It’s a very light weight device. The package comes with the Handset, Battery (BL-5J), Headset (WH-108), Quick Guide, Data Cable (CA-189CD) and a Charger (AC-20).

    BASIC FEATURES

It has a single micro SIM card slot and a user removable battery. The Lumia 520 is equipped with a Li-Ion 1430 mAh battery that gives up to 14 hours and 40 minutes of talk time on 2G and 9 hours and 40 minutes of talk time on 3G networks. You can also play music for up to 61 hours with the enduring battery life. The device supports almost all music and video format except for the popularly available .mkv formats on torrents. It maintains a unified phonebook where you can club all your GMAIL, OUTLOOK, FACEBOOK contacts into one. Other sensors include PROXIMITY SENSOR (turns off the screen when you’re on a call.), AMBIENT LIGHT SENSOR (maintains the brightness of the smartphone makes viewing the screen easy) and ACCELEROMETER (motion sensitivity). Connect to the internet with WiFi or sync to other phones with the Bluetooth feature. Additional features like GPRS, EDGE and USB further enhance your connectivity. Advanced location technologies include A-GPS and A-GLONASS along with location and navigation apps.

    DESIGN

What is the very first thing you notice in a phone? Specifications, maybe but even a geek before jumping into the specification would take a pause and ponder over the looks of any device. The white and the black model do have a classy look. If you are crazy about colour Nokia brings you a few vibrant colours to choose from like cyan, yellow and red. You can change the back covers anytime you want with just an additional sum of Rs 700/-. The device has a volume rocker, power button and a capture button on the right hand side, a micro usb port below and a 3.5 mm jack for your headphones on top, a speaker on the back side while the left side is completely clean incase you are fond of flip covers. It has three on-screen buttons- BACK button, a HOME button (window shaped) and a SEARCH button.

    DISPLAY

The phone features a 4 INCH “SUPER SENSITIVE” capacitive multi touch screen. Why did I say super sensitive? The reason being I can use it even while wearing gloves and my girlfriend with her long nails. The “multi touch” feature is self-explanatory, you can use multiple fingers (to zoom-in or zoom out). It supports TRUE CLOUR display i.e. 16M colours and has a PIXEL DENSITY of 235 PPI with an ASPECT RATIO of 15:9. Other display features include IPS DISPLAY and ORIENTATION SENSOR. The long and short of IPS display is that you get better color representation -- that is, whites are white, blacks are black, reds are red, etc. -- and better viewing angles.

    HARDWARE

Life is pretty amazing with the 1 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4, dual core processor. Do more wait less. Tap into faster performance. The Qualcomm Snapdragon processor CPU cores enable extra performance when you need it and put you in charge of running the most demanding applications, including gaming, photography, as well as business and personal productivity. Yes 512 MB RAM might sound a bit less but you would hardly find any app that won’t be compatible with your device that you can’t do away with. I suppose most of the smart phones in this range come with an internal memory of 4GB but Lumia 520 gives you an internal memory of 8GB along with a micro SD slot which is expandable upto 64GB. Now that’s a biggie! I have never seen any NOKIA user bothering about the battery backup and Nokia has lived up to its expectation. I am a power user and love to drain as much as possible from the device and have never faced problems. I easily get 8hrs-9hrs of battery life with WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger always running in the background and occasional music or video playback.

WINDOWS PHONE 8 and NOKIA APPS

The device runs on Windows Phone 8 OS which is gradually gaining popularity. You have over 200,000 apps to choose from and trust me you will find every app that you need. Stay on top of things with LIVE TILES which update in real time on your start screen. Get 7GB of storage on Microsoft OneDrive, so you can sync your phone and computer. And pre-installed Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint mean you can work on the go, hassle-free. Moreover you have apps from NOKIA like HERE MAPS, HERE DRIVE, HERE TRANSIT and NOKIA MIX RADIO etc. Nokia Mix Radio for Windows Phone 8 is a free streaming music app that personalizes mixes to suit your tastes. It’s ad-free and comes with unlimited downloads wherein you can download as much as you want till your subscription expires.

    CAMERA

The Nokia Lumia 520 comes with a 5 MP rear camera and digital lenses built in – exclusive to Nokia and guaranteed to wow your friends. The different scene modes include Automatic, Night Portrait, Sports, Night, Close-up, and Backlight. Add motion to your images with NOKIA CINEMAGRAPH. Capture a wider view with NOKIA PANAROMA. Take multiple photos with a single click using NOKIA SMART CAM, and edit effortlessly with NOKIA CREATIVE STUDIO to make the perfect shot. The device boasts of AUTO FOCUS with two stage capture key and 4X digital zoom. The phone can capture videos at 720p (HD, 1280X720) at 30fps with different white balance modes. Lack of flash is one major drawback of the device and taking pictures in low light is a little difficult and the experience dissatisfactory.

There is good news for windows users and jaw breaking news for people complaining about lack of notification centre, personal assistant, swipe keyboard, and file manager in windows phones. WINDOWS PHONE 8.1 has already been announced by MICROSOFT and would soon be released and these drawbacks will be removed and every existing WP8 devices will receive a WP8.1 update, so your phone is FUTURE PROOF.

I would recommend this device to everyone who is thinking of buying a smartphone within Rs 8000/-. I believe Nokia means Durability, Service, Trust etc whereas other android manufacturers means Big Plastic Phones, Non-Durable, Million dollar ads induced popularity, Ugly After-Sales service etc. and this is strictly a personal opinion.

  4.  A wonderful smartphone at this price 1 December, 2013 On Junglee.com
Let me tell you, I have not been a huge fan of Nokia since most of their phones have arrived to the market too late and it is pretty difficult to distinguish between different models of Lumia from one another.

The phone feels great. It looks even better. And it's extremely lightweight at only a 124 grams.

Windows Phone OS works flawlessly. The constantly refreshing visual tiles make this phone a perfect first time smartphone for people who are switching over from feature phones and need that little visual aid.

While there is a glaring dearth of apps for the Windows Phone platform you will find the most popular ones like Skype, Whatsapp, Twitter, Vine, Instagram and popular games like Where's My Water, Plants and Zombies, etc.

You can download offline maps through Nokia's own Here maps for your city, state, country or even the continent! I'm looking at you, Google Maps.

I won't be exaggerating this when I tell that the battery on this phone just won't die - 7 days with heavy usage and a day more if I hadn't charged.

My only gripe is that Nokia should've given a decent front facing camera with this phone. I wouldn't have bought this phone for my mom had I known it didn't have a front facing camera.

  5.  Best colour 17 June, 2014 On Junglee.com
I used this device at Nokia Care in my city. This is an amazing phone. It will change the definition of Budget Phones. I mean, its hard to believe that a Windows Phone EIGHT! device is availble for just 10k!
It has same processing hardware as in Nokia Lumia 720 which is expected to be priced 10k more than this. Dual core processor, dedicated GPU, 4 inch IPS LCD Screen, Sleek Looks, Super sensitive touch, Expandable memory, 5MP Auto Focus Camera, 720p Video Recording are just a few Highlights of this phone. Though 512 MB RAM is low, but you can't ask more at this price point. This is just like Nokia has listened to us and made a Phone just for INDIANS
To add, they have given all Nokia exclusive features like HERE Map, drive, transit; Cinemagraph, Smartshoot, Panorama lenses; Nokia Music with free music download for 3 months, & not to forget those 3G Data packs by operators.
Talking about design, one can easily say that its the best looking phone out there not only in its price range but also in the range till Lumia 720. The sleek look, bright funky colors, rectangular design, can easily make anyone say "awww so cute, I want it...!!!"
Nokia has also given an option to exchange shells. So you can buy an extra shell of any color. It is specially useful for those who want a colourful phone but office standards restricts them. Buy a black/white one extra and your problem is solved.
Talking about Performance, as said earlier, it has same processor and chipset as of its elder bros, so there is not a single point of compromise here. It will respond faster, will not lag (though heavy task is of-course restricted on it and on 620,720 too & by heavy task I mean playing memory hungry games/apps), has enough internal memory (8GB!) to accommodate all your apps, games and offline maps. so there is definitely a huge improvement to the Lumia 510, which was badly criticised due to its low memory. Nokia has learned! But still, that phone was bestseller, I wonder what this phone will do?

It has Office 365, email and linkedin integration. So if you are a hard working guy, it will help you to do your job smartly, without even hurting your pocket.
If you want a phone for your social needs, then don't look for any other phone. Windows Phones are best in this category as they have Facebook, Twitter, skype integration, and a lot of IM apps to keep you connected. People Hub, merges your contacts from FB, Twitter, Linkedin and show all of their latest updates on single tile (if you wish to). Ah, I know Facebook has launched so called Facebook Home (actually its an Android Launcher for all android devices), which brings facebook integration to android phone, but believe me, its nothing different from windows phone integration. Moreover, it will create problems in laggy androids, can't say if it will run on budget devices too.
High End Gamers, Ignore it. Enough said.
Casual Gamers, it has collection of games till Ashphalt 7 Heat. Temple Run is not yet available, but its said that lower version coming. By the time you can play games like Angry birds (all), xboxlive games (Yahtzee, Skulls of the shogun, AlphaJax, Wordament, Monopoly, NFS undercover, shift, etc) and beside that, there are many more non xboxlive games like from gameloft (Amazing Spiderman, Real soccer, Dark Knight, etc) and from other famous developers.
Music addicts, go for it. It has nice music player. Nokia Music service provided by nokia completes multimedia needs. No need of any other apps. It allows free music download (free for 3 months, afterward, subscription can be extended by giving nominal charges), Mix radio plays random music of your choice, lyrics are shown with just a tap. Sound is very nice. Though it lacks Dolby enhancements, but still the plain music sounds too good. The high bass levels do not distort if Good quality headphones are used, which is not the case with other competitive phones, & rest assured, you will feel the beat.
Video playback is good. Almost all standard formats are supported, but yeh, formats like mkv, which are quite famous on torrent are not supported. Youtube videos plays like water flow, conditioned you are using 3g data pack/high speed wifi network. 2G can't handle smooth play, but pre downloading is smooth in 2g speed. Apps are available to download youtube videos.
Photography on this phone is average. Its 5MP camera is good. Performs well against similar rivals. But one thing you will surely like about the camera is its capability to record 720p HD videos at 30fps. That's the thing which no phone provide till now under 11k price range (of-course I am not considering non branded/cheap brand phones).
So from my side, its a big thumbs up

  6.  Fluidic experience under Rs8000 25 March, 2014 On Junglee.com
There is no phone out there in this price bracket with this fluidity.

The OS is incredibly smooth and application opens blazing fast. Contains some really good applications like Nokia Mix, Nokia Map etc.

Phone of this build quality is not available from the other companies. Lovely design and feels tough.

Don't think about just dual core processor, its more than enough for Windows OS.

Has a beautiful 4" screen with resolution 480x800 which is not a mind blowing resolution but mind my words its screen is very beautiful and color reproduction is very nice. Nokia does a very good job with sreen and touch sensitivity.

Camera quality is above average but don't expect mind blowing pictures, low light images are below average sometimes with lots of noise as there isn't any flash.

Talking about battery, it will give you more than a day with moderate usage a normal user does.

Being unbiased, this phone has 512MB RAM which doesn't allow you to install some graphic intensive games. This is the major drawback of this phone.

This is new OS and hence there aren't major apps available right now but there are many major apps which is enough for a smartphone users.

Those who can wait or are comfortable with limited number of apps, its a great deal.

I recommend those user who need large number of apps should not buy this phone.

  7.  Don't think much before buying it :) 27 November, 2013 On Junglee.com
I bought this phone for my father in the last Diwali. For him this is the first touch screen phone and I would say he has been a happy & proud owner of this phone till date.
It's been his daily habit to explore this gadget everyday after work :)

I won't give any technical specifications as it is in the air :) rather I would share a good memory related to this phone.
The day I received this phone from Amazon, my colleague liked it so much that he order the black version of this phone within 1 hour of my package delivery and today he is a happy L520 user.

In short this is an amazing piece of technology from Nokia and thanks to amazon the phone came at a price tag of Rs.6750/- :D

    Cheers!!!
