The Notebook by Nicholas Sparks is a romantic novel. Sphere published this edition of the book on 5th April, 2006, which is available in English language.

Nicholas Sparks started writing novels from a very young age, when he was still in school. He has written several books and all them are New York Times bestsellers. There are 89 million copies of his bestselling books in print across the globe, and his stories have been translated into 50 different languages. Among his many books, The Notebook is one of the best known. It was published by Warner Books in 1996 and adapted into a film in 2004, which performed well at the box office. The film also won several nominations and awards, including multiple MTV Movie awards and Teen Choice awards.

The story of The Notebook begins when Noah, a rural Southerner, returns home to North Carolina after World War II. He is thirty-one and is still haunted by memories of a stunning lady he had met and fallen in love with fourteen years earlier. They got estranged because Allie's parents wanted her to marry a man from affluent society. However, Noah is unwilling to forget her and decides to live with only her memories. One day, unexpectedly, she returns to the town to meet him. The situation is no different now since she is engaged to another man and is about to get married in a few weeks. However, Allie soon realizes that time has not been able to erase her love for Noah, but with her wedding bell ringing she is at the crossroads of life. The author takes readers on a stirring emotional journey through the trials and challenges before Noah and Allie in their quest for true love.

Upon release, the book received widespread praise and was a New York Times bestseller within the first week, and remained in the hardcover bestseller list for over a year. It's a touching love story that speaks very strongly to the romantic in all of us and takes shelter in hearts of its readers.
