Overview: Plum Island: Number 1 in series

About the book:

A high octane crime thriller, Plum Island by Nelson Demille revolves around a double-murder mystery. John Corey, a NYPD homicide detective embarks upon the journey to unravel the murder mystery of two biologists who worked in Plum Island Animal Disease center. Did they know something that they shouldn't have?

And because Corey personally knew the victims, he too knows more than he should. The facility is suspected to be involved in biological warfare research. Demille has managed to keep the plot fast paced with twists and turns as the mystery unfolds.

While the department chases the conspiracy theory that biologists were murdered because they knew too much about the deadly project they were working on, Corey, who is struggling with his own trauma knows that there are deadlier reasons for the twin-murder.

The Author further amps up the drama of this high octane novel with another twist. Corey is discharged of his duties in middle of his investigation. What's the truth? Who doesn't want him to know as to what really happened that day?

The author has kept all the elements intact for the plot to be a thrilling mesh of money, drugs, biological weapons and an unsolved homicide.

This book was hilarious. It was a referral read from a good friend and I was not disappointed. It has suspense, wit and humor, and a really good story. I can't remember feeling like the characters in the story were stupid. You know that feeling you get while watching a horror/suspense movie when the character does the opposite of something that would otherwise end the movie. Something that makes you think the writer sucked and couldn't come up with a better plot so they make the characters do the most brainless things just to keep the movie going.

Well this is not one of those books. I sincerely recommend it.
