Overview: Revolution 2020

Just as the title suggests, Revolution 2020: Love.Corruption.Ambition is a story about ambition, corruption, love and revolution, by Chetan Bhagat, the famous Indian author. He is also a screenwriter, a speaker and a columnist. He has authored a number of best-sellers including One Night @ the Call Center, Five Point Someone, 2 States, The 3 Mistakes of My Life and What Young India Wants. All of these novels have remained bestsellers from right when they were released. The first four have also inspired Bollywood films. Half Girlfriend is another upcoming novel by Bhagat. The author has already received a number of awards for his noteworthy contribution to the new-age English literature. He has been declared as one of the 100 Most Influential People in the World by the Time magazine. The New York Times has cited him as "the biggest selling English language novelist in India's history", in 2008. He has also received other awards including Society Young Achiever' award, Filmfare Award for Best Screenplay 2014 for the film, Kai Po Che and Publisher's Recognition award. This edition of Revolution 2020 was published by Rupa on September 1, 2011. If you are planning to buy books online, you can get this in any of the bookstores, listed on this page.

Chetan Bhagat has studied in reputed organisations like the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad and the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi. Due to his intense association with the youth of India, both in terms of his books and speeches, he is observed more as a youth icon, and less as an author. He also writes columns for a number of reputed English and Hindi newspapers, including Dainik Bhaskar, Hindustan Times and The Times of India. In his articles, he largely focusses on career, youth and different issues related to national development. He also shares his opinions regarding these issues in different events, held across the country. Though earlier he was into the profession of investment banking, he left job in 2009 and devoted himself to writing. In the beginning of 2014, he used to host a television show, titled, 7 RCR on ABP news.

Revolution 2020 revolves around the themes of corruption, love triangles and self discovery. The novel is set in Varanasi, an Indian city, on the banks of the Ganges. According to the author, the book highlights the corruption, which is quite evident in the youth educational system of India. The story of the novel revolves around two best friends, Raghav and Gopal and their friend Aarti. While Raghav and Gopal get separated due to their different passions and ambitions, they remain connected by their love for the same girl - Aarti. Losing his mother at a very young age, Gopal is brought up by his father. He experiences the cruelties and harsh realities of life, largely due to poverty and wants to become rich. On the other hand, Raghav has witnessed the cruelties and he wants to bring change to the society, and make it a better place. Aarti is close to both of them, but whom will she tie the knot with? And do Raghav and Gopal become successful in their individual lives?

Like all other books by Bhagat, this too, has been a best-seller. The fast paced plot and characters with many shades make for an enjoyable read. This edition of the book has been written in English and has 356 pages. 8129118807 is the ISBN 10 for this edition, while 9788129118806 is the ISBN 13 for the same book.

     It's Very nice book 5 July, 2012 On Junglee.com
    i like it........

The writer or rather, the narrator has recovered from a question that has not received much entertainment media attention (at least exclusively and directly) and other social issues like poverty, employment and religion / the terrorism. It has thus tried to capitalize on the uniqueness of the subject, but has failed miserably from the point of view of content.

  3.  Chetan Bhagat is improving, this being his best yet. 16 June, 2014 On Junglee.com
As of now, Revolution 2020 is easily Chetan Bhagat's best plotted novel. Also a triangular love story, this novel depicts politics in it's own Indian way.

Set in the city of Varanasi, Revolution 2020 is the story of Gopal, Raghav and Aarti. Gopal takes the narrative role to himself and the story revolves around Gopal's love for Aarti.

Revolution 2020 is more of a journey of self discovery and finding the path leading to one's ambition. The novel takes no time to establish the characters, but does well in twisting the plot around.

The author has made quite a remarkable touch writing about the educational system that is of now, and how much of a role it actually plays in one's life.

Chetan Bhagat has managed to craft his best story yet, and has done it well.

    A 3.75/5

  4.  Revolution ? Really ??!! 29 May, 2014 On Junglee.com
Earlier books of chetan bhagat were stories of creme de la cream. the IITians and the IIMians. so, this time he decided to write about mediocre, good for nothing class.
the Kota part of story is very realistic and just when you start builing your expectations about the book, it puts you down.
Everything after that is very unrealistically orchestrated for the protagonist.
It depicts the vulnerability of a love-commitment-conflict of mind very nicely in parts.

  5.  Be in the centre of change 5 May, 2014 On Junglee.com
Once again,Chetan bhagat provided us a sensational novel.

The story surrounds the holy city,Kashi.Beauty of Kashi is of its Ghats on the bank of river Ganga.

Main characters are three school friends, two boys and a girl.Ups and downs came in their lives when they separate from each other in search of their future.Everyone has dreams in their eyes.Chetan bhagat again hits the mindset of middle class.

Story highlights the corruption rooted in education department.

An young IItian tries to work against corruption, there he faces several problems.

Again mysteries, love, dreams has been enlighted in Bhagat's novel.

    Read it for yours.

  7.  Too Bad 22 April, 2014 On Junglee.com
I really dont like chetan bhagat much.but again once my friend told me about a new arrival "revolution 2020"
i made my mistake.i bought this novel.its like an old indian movie from 70's with a illogical yet fake climax.

This book is the best example of how a person just because he as a ‘Fame’ attached to his ‘Name’ could earn by writing an utterly senseless story with the title totally irrelevant to the story itself and push it on people. It talks about nothing but Jealousy, Falsehood, Misery and Deceit as the book is by itself.

This book is a complete disappointment and total waste of money as well as time. Chetan should better try writing movie scripts rather than novels. It would be high time he stops portraying women as bitches and writing tireless stories about IITs. If he knows nothing else than these, then he should better quit writing stories.

This book is not worthy of even a single star rating.
