There is immense stuff written about Sachin Tendulkar. Many books, many stories have been published about this great batsman. However, most of these books tell about the Sachin whom everyone knows. Almost everything about this fine cricketer is known to the world. But very few books have told the real life story of Sachin Tendulkar. The book Sachin: The Story of the World's Greatest Batsman is one of the rare books that reveal the hidden aspects of Sachin's life and his cricketing career. Written in a powerful yet stunningly impressive narrative, this book takes the readers on a journey of dreams and the magical life of an individual who, with one stroke of his bat, changed the way cricket was played.

This book narrates how Sachin became the second youngest cricketer in the world to score hundred runs and how this little genius caught the eye of the national selectors. The unique and the best part of this book is that it revisits the matches that made Sachin the best batsman in the world and how he managed to handle that situation. A detailed account of those matches has been given, and it's not just the statistics and strategies, the book tells the mind games and the conditions as well.      Good Textual record - lacks colour and stats 1 April, 2013 On Junglee.com
Had a lot of expectations from this long awaited book - however it turns out to be mostly cut paste from the cricinfo web site which were anyway good short pieces with a great new short piece from Sharda Ugra which captures the essence of the tournament.

Cons - there are no scorecards for the matches even for the final , some 12 pages of avg colour photos which does not include any indian player in action - no Yuvraj , Zaheer , Sacin,Sehwag or anyone else but Ponting and very avg shots and few black and white photos thrown in - while the layout is good - the yellowing paper quality is very average and more suitable for a pulply thriller .

Having said that the front and back covers are brilliant and hard back is great .

    .
As a record of the world cup it kind of covers the passion and grit of this seminal event in a textual way though the colour photos are sorely missed.

A few more commissioned pieces from Sharda Ugra would have surely the embellished the book as would a few pages of records and stats.
