The author of the book, Vaibhav Purandare grew up playing cricket opposite Sachin Tendulkar. He witnessed Sachin and Vinod Kambli's world record breaking 664-run partnership against his school. He was taught by Sachin's father, Professor Ramesh Tendulkar and coached in cricket by Sachin Tendulkar's coach Ramakant Achrekar. He started as a journalist in the political news magazine called the Blitz in 1993. Some of his famous books include The Sena Story and Bal Thackeray and the Rise of the Shiv Sena among others.
