Overview: The Seven Crystal Balls

The Adventures of Tintin follows a young Belgian reporter and his faithful fox terrier named Snowy. Tintin is always in search of a good story to publish and his search leads him to mysteries and exciting adventures that let him travel the world. Based in the 20th century, Tintin was created by Belgian cartoonist Georges Remi, who wrote under the pen name Hergé. The main characters in every Tintin book include, Thompson and Thomson -the two incompetent detectives, Captain Haddock- the perpetually inebriated sailor, and the highly intelligent but hearing-impaired Professor Calculus.

The Seven Crystal Balls is the thirteenth book to be published in this widely popular comic series and is the first volume in a two-part adventure concluded in Prisoners of the Sun. In this adventure, Tintin travels with Snowy and Captain Haddock to South America in order to rescue Professor Calculus who has been kidnapped by unknown black men. The kidnapping is assumed to be related to the unearthing of the cursed mummy of the Inca legend - Rascar Capac. The story follows an action packed adventure that is sure to leave the reader wanting more with the turn of every page.

Georges Prosper Remi, or Hergé as he is commonly known, was born in 1907. He developed Tintin as a Belgian boy reporter who could travel the world with his fox terrier, Snowy - Milou in the original French - basing him in large part on his earlier character of Totor and also on his own brother, Paul. Tintin has gained such popularity that it has not only been adapted into movies and stage plays, but also into documentaries, video games and even on the radio. The character has also won the International Campaign for Tibet's Light of Truth Award, bestowed by the Dalai Lama. This paperback is available online with the ISBN-10 number of 1405206241 and ISBN-13 number of 978-1405206242.
