Brilliant razor sharp picture that's not harsh on your eyes! A wonderful LED HD TV! 31 August, 2013 On Junglee.com
Well, a little over 6 months of viewing in this model of Sony's 32" HD LED TV has reaffirmed almost all of my trust on Sony TVs. And a couple of let-downs too! That's later. My review given here is from a non-technical user's perspective and I hope this will help such people to get a fair idea about this model.

First things first. A TV essentially has to open up a virtual window into the outer world for our personal viewing. The more one feels a sense of oneness with the visuals seen due to the natural and life-like quality of the picture, the better the TV must be. Based on this benchmark alone Sony Bravia KDL-32EX650 wins hands down. I can vouch for it from my 6+ months of daily viewing and occasionally comparing it with other TVs too.

When I wanted to replace my ageing CRT Sony TV, I was searching for the most advanced model in the Sony LED range just below the 3D models as I was not yet convinced of the 3D technology. After visiting at least 5 showrooms in Chennai and seeing demo of quite a few brands displayed there, I zeroed in on this particular one for all its features plus that "extra" feeling with its picture quality: 32" (just adequate for my house), Full HD, Edge LED (more efficient), Low Power Consumption (just 70W), decent range of connectivity (ports), USB Play, and of course price of around 40K, the lesser the better!

After assembling the TV (very easy, if you can understand simple diagrams and know how to thread-in a few screws without damaging the plastic) when I lifted it to place it on the TV table, it felt discouragingly light for its size! But on its stand it sits very stable and my fear of whether it will topple disappeared. The screen can be moved left-right to some degree, but no vertical tilt adjustments.

The first thing I did was to plug in my internet connection from my broadband router straight into the RJ45 jack! Voila! It sensed the connection and after a few clicks as given in the manual, I was able to watch YouTube videos. It was a joy to watch because this TV buffers nicely to play video without the stop-go pains one experiences with occasional slow speed internet connectivity (like it was on that day).

Next I wanted to play the Full HD version of a movie my friend lent me in a USB stick. We were thrilled no end! The details were so clear - either from a 2 inch distance or 10 feet away! We were almost "into" the movie's location! There was no "trailing" effects in scenes of high speed motion we've become used to with our old TV! The picture was life-like. Period.

But, alas! The movie stopped playing after a few minutes into it. I learnt the hard way the first drawback in Sony TVs: There's a limitation in video file size when played from USB pen drive. It cannot play files larger than 2GB in size! That's one big let down for me, for I imagined I can borrow ANY Full HD movie from friends in a USB stick and happily view in this TV. No. No. You need to connect a media player for hassle-free viewing of videos of any size and quality. There's also the limitation of the types of files that can be played directly.

Similarly, though this model is Wi-fi enabled it does not have an in-built wi-fi adapter. We have to buy it separately and connect it to enable wire-free internet / LAN.

Now, finally when I plugged in my DTH from the set top box (connected to roof-top dish), it was a revelation! Each channel was distinctly clearer and that much life-like! Everyone in our family felt this model has superior picture quality compared to some earlier models or a couple of other brands (owned by our friends and relatives). It was (and is) pure joy watching video in this TV. The default setting of brightness/contrast was so adequate, the picture was never harsh on your eyes, even while the details of gray in dark areas were clearly visible! That's wonderful actually but, only seeing is believing!

The sound quality was good but I initially felt the volume was a little less at the highest volume setting. But, when our ground floor neighbours rushed in to inform that the TV sound levels disturb them, we realised it must be more than adequate. Perhaps that's what the high quality of the audio does to your ears. Nice new experience.

There was an additional surprise we noticed after a few months: My earlier 21" CRT TV was a power guzzler (110W) compared to this! As we use this TV for 6-8 hours every day, its lower power consumption makes a significant difference to our electricity bill too!

Overall, its a very good buy.

I would list the following as its main pluses:
    - Easy to use, easy to maintain
    - Exceptional picture quality
    - High quality audio
    - Low power consumption
    - Nice buffering for hiccup-free viewing of videos from internet
    - Everything is almost plug-n-play! So easy.

And, the following as main minuses:
    - Limitation of video file size when played from USB stick
    - Not all file formats are supported. Google to find out. The manual is not helpful for this.
    - Lacking vertical tilt adjustment

As the minuses are not critical in nature, I would give 5 Star rating for this model.

  2.  Excellent TV 12 February, 2014 On Junglee.com
One of my friends bought this TV. He was initially in a dilemma to go for LCD or LED. He concluded LED picture quality is much better than LCD. So, he took this product.

This TV comes with X-Reality picture engine, which advanced than Bravia and its ia Full HD display.

That has made him to buy this TV and he is very happy with it.
