Product Description

Do contemporary fantasy stories entice you? You cannot miss the Summer Knight, a novel by Jim Butcher. This is the fourth novel in The Dresden Files. The series follows the character of Harry Dresden, who is the only professional wizard in Chicago. Queen Mab is the Queen of Air and Darkness and the Winter Queen of the Sidhe purchases Dresden's debt from his fairy godmother and lets him know that he can pay off his debt by finding the murderer of the Summer Knight Ronald Reuel and recovering his stolen mantle. He is threatened that he would be stripped of his title of wizard, handed over to the Red Court vampires as a peace offering if he does not accept the request. He is also visited by his former lover, Elaine, who is now the Emissary of the Summer Court and is indebted to the Summer Lady, Aurora. He is attacked at Reuel's funeral by half-human/half-Fae changelings who believe that he is serving Winter. The changelings want Dresden to find their friend Lily, but the search leads him to a wounded Elaine who is then taken to the Summer Lady for healing. He still does not have any details on Reuel's murder or Lily's disappearance. However, he finds out that Reuel's murder and the theft of his murder has led to the shift of power balance in favour of Winter and this is what led the Summer Court to attach Winter at Midsummer.

At the Great Stone Table, the Sacrificial Stone

Far away, in an ethereal Chicago-over-Chicago rests a great Stone Table that is instrumental in maintaining the balance between the Winter and the Summer Sidhe. He is goaded to answer his own questions and that's when he finds out that it was Aurora who killed Reuel and also transferred his mantle to Lily. And, Lily was then turned to stone. A cloth of unravelling is given to him to release Lily. There's more in store for Dresden as he is ambushed and taken prisoner by none other than Aurora. She does this with the help of Elaine and the Winter Knight. Lily was to be ritually sacrificed on the Stone Table and the power of mantle was to be transferred to the Winter Sidhe. The story turns in favour of Dresden, as Elaine betrays Aurora and leaves an escape route for Dresden. In the battle between the courts, Aurora is confronted by Dresden and she finally dies at the hands of pixies who have been armed by him with cold iron. Dresden declines the mantle of the Winter Knight, which was offered to him by Queen Mab. She goes ahead and grants safe passage to the White Council of the wizards. This ensures that Dresden passes his trial. Lily is now the new Summer Lady and her changeling friend, Fix is her new Summer Knight.

  1.  One of the best books in the series 25 February, 2014 On
In "Summer Knight," everyone's favorite wizard/detective gets involve in the subtle (yet deadly) affairs of the Fae Court when an unusual client walks through his door. This book introduces many new characters, sets up several important subplots and, most importantly, entertains and keeps you on the edge of your seat, just like all the other books by Jim Butcher.
