The British-Irish boy band One Direction comes out with their second studio album - Take Me Home which was recorded in May-August 2012 and was finally released on the 9th of November 2012. The album Take me Home is a follow-up to One Direction's debut album, Up All Night which was released in 2011 and was an International success. Take Me Home has an average of five songwriters per song. One Direction's debut album Up All Night and Take Me Home were the best selling albums in 2012 getting the third and the fifth positions in the United States respectively.

One Direction began with the recording of the album in May 2012, at Kinglet Studios in Stockholm. The artpiece of the album cover contains the group around a traditional British K2 red telephone box, which is very commonly seen on the streets of the United Kingdom. The band showcased their performance of the song "Little Things" at the Royal Variety Performance in 2012 in the presence of Queen Elizabeth II, and had also titled a show at New York City's Madison Square Garden on the 3rd of December 2012.

"Live While We're Young" is the album's lead single, reaching in the top ten worldwide. The following singles, "Little Things" and "Kiss You", were not too successful, however topped the UK Singles Chart. In the British telecast singing competition "The X Factor", Nicole Scherzinger who was a guest judge in the competition, and Simon Cowell, both of them claimed to have come up with the idea of creating the band "One Direction" in the competition which included Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson,Harry Styles, Niall Horan. Although Harry Styles came up with the name of the band "One Direction", Cowell said that it just took him 10 minutes to put them together as a group. The group rapidly acquired popularity in the United Kingdom and finished in third place and right after the final, their sond "Forever Young", which was supposed to be released only if they had won "The X Factor", was leaked on the internet. Later it was confirmed that One Direction was signed by Simon Cowell to a $2 million Syco Records contract.
